PACT

IMG_0158The Philadelphia Aphasia Community at Temple (PACT) provides persons with aphasia real life opportunities to enhance communication skills in an interest-driven setting.  We currently offer programs  in art, writing, current events and music. New programs are added regularly and are typically motivated by our members’ interests. PACT provides the opportunity  for socialization with other persons affected by aphasia, but also with people of all ages, as we involve students in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department to volunteer in the PACT center.  For more information about PACT please click here or contact Gayle DeDe at 215-204-2453 or gayle.dede@temple.edu.

Recreation Therapy is the focus of the Active Living for Persons with Aphasia group which joined the PACT program in 2015 but has been in existence since 2009. Participants build, develop and use of their communication skills while engaged in recreational pursuits, learning how leisure activities can serve a therapeutic purpose in their lives. Through the generosity of Access Sports Experiences this group is afforded the opportunity to participate in spectating, skill based clinics and education which emphasizes physical activity and well-being. Nationally certified faculty and students from the Therapeutic Recreation program/Rehabilitation Sciences Dept facilitate this group.
